Whatever’s not anchored in firm ground will be washed away with the strong tide. Prevailing winds are rendered powerless when an anchor is properly positioned. The storms of life cannot move a soul anchored in the arms of an almighty God.
Even the winds obey the commandment of the Lord, so why do we sometimes retreat in the face of an adversary? We have the power of God in us. The word was made flesh and dwelt among us…and then his spirit he gave to us to withstand the wiles of the enemy. I contend it’s because we are not anchored as we should be in the eternal Word; rather, we anchor ourselves in the temporal framework of the world. A world governed by popular thought, greed, pride, immorality, where every man’s ways seem right in his own ways, is opposite or anti-Bible.
“Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Joshua 24:14-15 KJV
