The greatest action we can do today and every day, yea, “without ceasing” is to PRAY. When these things happen, we are also instructed to bear witness or TESTIFY of Jesus Christ, His goodness, His righteousness, His grace, and so much more’
You shall hear of wars and rumors of war . . . (Matt 24:6, Mark 13:7, Luke 21:9)
Terrorist attacks? War on cops? War on women? Black lives matter? All lives matter? Blue lives matter?
Do not be terrified!
Nation will rise against nation, kingdom against kingdom . . . (Matt 24:7)
Us v. Them? Black v. White? Republican v. Democrat?
. . . There shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places
Famines in Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia?
Earthquakes in 2010 Haiti? Fiji a month ago? Australia and Ecuador in the last 24 hours?
This will be your opportunity to bear witness (KJV states, “turn to you for a testimony”) Luke 21:14
If we call ourselves Christian, then we have been given specific instructions on what to do when terrorists attack, brother kills brother, or when mass murders occur, protests result in death and destruction, fear results in violence.
PRAY TO THE ONE TRUE GOD, Jesus Christ–the only name given among men whereby we must be saved (Acts 4:12).
. . . and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace (Isa. 9:6)
Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you. . .Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. (John 14:27)
Want peace? Pray to the Prince of Peace, Jesus Christ.
We need Comforting, do we not? Pray to the Comforter, Jesus Christ, which is the Holy Ghost (John 14:26).
TESTIFY OF THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD. What has he done for you? How has he heard you, delivered you, provided for you, saved you?
As Christians, we also know what NOT to do: FEAR NOT
For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Tim 1:7
…and some 144 other verses saying “Fear not”
DO NOT BE ASHAMED OF TESTIFYING ABOUT JESUS
Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord… (2 Tim 1:8)
If Facebook and Twitter feeds would fill with testimonies of how great Jesus is, then I believe people would begin to unite, the spirit of division would be broken, hurts would begin heal, fear would start to dissipate, violence would lose its foothold.
When surrounded by an angry and violent mob, Stephen gave his testimony, and over half of the New Testament was birthed. When Paul was thrown in jail, stood before rulers and death, he gave his testimony and people were baptized, souls were saved, and the Church of Jesus Christ grew greatly.
These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
Where sin increases, grace does much more increase as we turn our ways to the righteousness of God (Rom 5:20). His grace will see us through the most horrific of tragedies and lead us into a place of peace and victory.
Our opinions are worthless. Why? Because our hearts are wicked, even the best of us, the most kind of us. The only good in any of us is His righteousness and holiness that abides in us when we abide in Him. His grace alone is what saves us. Why then do we think we have an opinion that can save the world?
Pray, testify of Jesus, and change the world. Our opinions, even when well-intentioned can wreak havoc in a world full of opinions. Be separate from the world. Do something different. While the talking heads weigh in with their opinions on events, organizations, movements, share the only truth that can save a nation: Share the Word of God and, as Pastor David Wright of The Antioch Church in Arnold, MD said, Let the Word speak.
Overcome this world by the Word of your testimony of Jesus Christ.
